WALKS LIKE RIHANNA’S ON THE BACK BURNER FOR A BIT, THEN…
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from our favourite non-boyband Lawson, and we were starting to wonder where the bloody hell they’d got to. But since completing their UK tour the other month, it seems the fellas have been doing that thing popstars do where they get a rapper to work with them on a ‘sick joint’, as the band visited Capital FM this morning to premiere their new track ‘Brokenhearted’ featuring none other than B.o.B.
The track isn’t actually released until July 7th (WAH), but that kinda makes sense – it’s a catchy little summer single that sees Andy Brown getting a bit sassy instead of doing the whole ‘I miss you and want you back but now you’re somebody else’s and I’m sad’ thing he used to do quite a lot of.
A few KEY POINTS about ‘Brokenhearted’, then:
1) It sounds a bit (read: a lot) like that Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa song.
2) It includes the lyric ‘I was standing in the dark, but now I’m in control,’ which makes for a not-so-subtle but still actually quite subtle reference to their previous single ‘Standing In The Dark’. Amazing.
3) It has a very catchy ‘la la la, la la la, la la LA’ bit.
4) B.o.B raps ‘I don’t give a Massachushits,’ which is our new favourite sassy swear-phrase.
5) It’s very good.
Check out the boys’ brand spanking new single below. It’s not getting one of those fancy lyric videos, by the way. They’re too indie for that shiz.
Amazing. And we don’t even feel like we’re cheating on ‘Walks Like Rihanna’ or ‘Carry You’. Huzzah. What do you reckon? Liking the new track? Summer SMASH? Comments please.
